The chale wote festival is an annual street and arts festival. Chale wote festival targets local and international artists as well as patrons. "Wote" in the Ga language means "let's go".
The first edition which was done in 2011 was a one day event that included street painting, graffiti murals, photography, spoken word, interactive art installations, live performances, sports, film shows, and other activities. From 2013 the festival rebranded and became a two days show with a host of new additions to spice the festival.
Chale wote is usually done in the month of August which also commemorate the celebration of the Homowo festival. The venue for the initial festival was Jamestown, a historical site in Accra. However, starting from 2016 the format was changed to a full week of Photo Exhibitions, Street Painting, Graffiti Murals, Interactive Installations, Street Boxing, Movie Screenings, Procession of Cultures and design labs.
Currently chale wote festival is the most popular street festival in the capital which attracts thousands of art lovers from across the globe to the venue. The organizers rake in very huge profit from sponsors who seek to get mileage from the thousands of visitors
