Ankos Festival

The Ankos Festival, widely recognized as the Takoradi Masquerade Festival or Takoradi Street Carnival, is an annual celebration held in Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana. Taking place from December 24th to 26th each year, it draws people from all walks of life to showcase the region's rich culture through dance, music, and dazzling costumes. It features masquerade groups in colorful costumes, each unique to their team, showcasing their culture through dance and music, accompanied by brass bands playing lively melodies. People of all ages and backgrounds come together to celebrate, while spectators enjoy the festive atmosphere from streets, rooftops, and balconies. The festival's roots trace back to the Ankos Fancy Club, and the song Made in Tadi by Kofi Kinaata has become its anthem, capturing the spirit of Takoradi’s Christmas.
